Air Karachi, Pakistan’s newest airline, is all set to start operations and bring cheaper flight options for travelers. The airline plans to reduce domestic ticket prices by up to 40%, giving passengers a more affordable way to fly within Pakistan.
Air Karachi’s Big Plan for Cheaper Flights
Air Karachi plans to use Chinese-manufactured passenger aircraft instead of expensive Airbus or Boeing planes. According to the airline’s chairman, Hanif Gauhar, these aircraft cost almost half as much to acquire, helping the airline keep its ticket prices lower.
The airline is currently in talks with COMAC, a Chinese aircraft manufacturer, to evaluate the advanced C919 jet. Discussions with Airbus and Boeing are also ongoing, but China is considered a strong option due to Pakistan’s strong aviation ties with the country
Air Karachi Launch Date and Fleet Details
Air Karachi has already received its Regular Public Transport (RPT) license from Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on June 5, 2025. The airline plans to start with three aircraft for domestic routes and gradually expand to seven. International flights are expected after completing one year of domestic operations.
The airline is backed by prominent Karachi-based businessmen, following the model of Air Sial, which was successfully launched by industrialists in Sialkot
Ticket Prices and Cost-Cutting Strategy
By reducing leasing costs, Air Karachi plans to pass savings directly to passengers. The goal is to cut domestic airfares by up to 40%, making air travel more affordable for everyone.
This move is expected to create healthy competition in Pakistan’s domestic aviation market, especially against airlines like PIA, Airblue, Fly Jinnah, and Serene Air
